7 questions to ask before hiring a software development company
A short checklist that separates real partners from vendors — before you sign anything.

Choosing a software partner is one of the most expensive decisions a company makes. These seven questions reveal more than any sales deck.
1. Who exactly will work on my product?
Ask for the seniority and experience of the actual team — not the company's best people in general.
2. Who owns the code and the IP?
The answer should be simple: you, from day one, in your own repositories.
3. How will we communicate?
Look for overlapping working hours, a language your team is comfortable with, and one clear point of contact.
4. How do I see progress?
Regular demos of working software beat status reports. Ask how often you will see the product, not just slides.
5. What happens if someone leaves?
A real partner has continuity built in, so delivery does not stall when one person moves on.
6. Have you built something like this before?
Domain experience — payments, logistics, government services — saves you from paying for the learning curve.
7. How fast can we start?
If the answer is "in three months", you are effectively hiring in-house. A good partner can start in days.
